Lady and the Fox is a restaurant located in Thailand that commissioned me to create a whimsical, fairy-tale-inspired narrative for their brand. The owner, not only a master in crafting stunning dishes and pastries, also has a flair for storytelling. Together, we created a charming tale about a lady who meets a fox in a forest, where they form a beautiful friendship rooted in the love of delicious food. This enchanting story is woven throughout the restaurant's rich menu. To bring this narrative to life, we designed 10 unique characters, carefully selected by the owner, and crafted 5 illustrations that capture the magic of this culinary adventure.

I invite you to scroll down and discover this project. At the bottom of the page, you will also find a little story about how this restaurant was born.
The Story behind the restaurant

With every story comes a beginning... It goes all the way back to the city in the heart of the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles in CA, United States.

Chef Cici first opened a small family restaurant known as “CiCi’s Cafe” back in 2006 and gave an introduction to her customers with 13 different types of her original mouth-watering pancakes. One of her most classic dish that have taken the many hearts of her local customers in Los Angeles was the euphoric “Tiramisu Pancakes.”

As the lady sees the joy and smiles of her happy customers, CiCi’s passion grew and she strives to invent more unique dishes for her local customers. Many sensations followed — trending the new best-selling “Green Tea Tiramisu”pancakes, the classic “Dutch Baby” pancakes, and her silky “Chocolate Velvet” pancakes. Her menu items have expanded tremendously in time that her passionate creativity have become a real exemplification of endless possibilities.

After 15 years, her breakfast items now consist of over 80 different types of pancakes, french toasts, waffles and crepes. CiCi’s Cafe had been recognized by LA Localish’s “Worth the Wait”, was featured as “The Best Brunch in Los Angeles in LA Thrillist Article”, and “Top 10 Breakfast in the West San Fernando Valley” in LA Weekly Newspaper. CiCi was also awarded on behalf of Malibu Hills Sheriff’s Foundation for supporting first responders and was recently presented with high honor as “ The Business of the Quarter” by Mayor Brad Halpern and Conejo Valley’s City Council at Westlake City Hall in 2022.

Now to this day, Chef CiCi is finally here in Chiang Mai and now presents to you all a wonderful story of, “the lady & the Fox”, which includes some of her signature recipes and iconic dishes that not just filled the cravings of her patrons but also touches the many hearts of LA.
